INTRODUCTION TO OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS (IOLS)

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills provides basic outdoor skills information for adults. It is ideal for Venturing leaders because it focuses on skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experiences.

 

Who teaches it? Older/more experience unit adult leaders. Some councils will offer a council-wide course to consolidate resources.

Who takes it? Unit adults that have recently joined the program.

What do they learn? Basic ourdoor skills and tools.

When does it take place? As often as necessary.

After successfully completing the IOLS course, along with Fast Start Training and This is Scouting, graduates receive the 'Trained' patch to place on the bottom of the left shirt sleeve, beneath the position patch.
